December began with our CHRISTMAS GALA featuring the Wealden Brass Band and the Downland Singers. Even with Covid precautions in place, the audience enjoyed an afternoon of music and carols and were most appreciative that the event could be held this year.
At the end of November we held our CHRISTMAS FAIR in aid of ACTION for CHILDREN. The Saturday morning dawned grey and damp but this did not stop people from coming along for a spot of early Christmas shopping and spotting a bargain or two. We even had our very own “Health and Safety Elf” who drew people’s attention to the Fair as they were out doing their weekend shopping! A welcome hot drink was on hand throughout the morning together with homemade vegetable soup and hot dogs at lunchtime. A total of over £600 was raised—well done to everyone involved for their hard work and such a magnificent sum.
This year we have been thinking about how we can develop interaction between our "secular" and "sacred" lives. Back together for Cafe Church and our Harvest Thanksgiving Service we gave thanks to God for all the gifts he has blessed us with and talked about how we can use them to the benefit of our church and local community. The exhibition of our Hobbies showed examples of knitting, sewing, cooking, radio amateur, music, classic cars, bowls and a dreamcatcher. A light lunch was enjoyed and gave us time for plenty of chat!
